Bob Books for iPhone aims to teach your kids to read

Bob Books is one of the more popular brands when it comes to children learning to read, and now it’s come to iPhone with the first in what looks like a series of apps by developer Learning Touch.

It’s part book, and part phonics-based game, aimed at young children starting to read for the first time – or those who are a little away along in their learning.  The characters will be familiar from the books, and it’s animated rather than static pictures.

Phonics-based teaching is the standard now (at least here in the UK), so the app is likely to tie in well with any other materials or programs that you’re using.

There are 12 scenes and 32 words, but the fact that it’s called #1 makes it pretty clear that more instalments will be released in the coming months.
