Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer gets iPhone and iPad book-app

Yes, he had a very shiny nose, but now Rudolph has also got his own app, courtesy of developer Oceanhouse Media. You might know the name: they also do all the Dr Seuss apps for iPhone and iPad.

This new app follows a similar pattern, with a story involving Rudolph coming to Santa’s rescue when a huge snowstorm threatens his Christmas plans. The story is accompanied by music, sound effects, beautiful artwork and even audio clips from a 1964 TV show.

Words are highlighted as the story is read, but you can opt to read it yourself – i.e. can the narration – if that’s what your child prefers. The app also encourages exploration, with hidden sounds triggered by tapping certain points in the pictures.

The app is universal, so will work on both your iPad and iPhone / iPod touch.
