Gardening, maths and children? It sounds like an unholy combination in the real world, but a new iPad app developed by a team at the University of California, Berkeley (translation: tech central) makes it a compelling blend.

There are 12 flowers to be unlocked in four different parts of the garden, with a game-like structure of 30 levels to keep your children interested.
The developers promise that the educational element is subtly done, with addition and subtraction introduced with a “gradual” learning curve. It looks good, and at £1.49 the app won’t break the bank.
