Talking Ginger, Talking Tom Cat and Talking Angela get real toys

Update: If you’re looking for the latest Talking Friends apps, including Tom, Angela and Ginger’s latest releases, check our Talking Friends category.

Talking Ginger, Talking Tom Cat and the rest of developer Outfit7′s Talking Friends apps have been huge hits with children, so here’s some big news in time for Christmas: a range of real-life toys.

The range is called Talking Friends Superstar, with three available initially: Ginger, Tom and Angela.

The idea: soft toys with microphones and speakers, capable of listening to your child or the character’s app, and offering “catchy tunes, witty riddles, amusing jokes and plenty of whimsical sounds” as responses.

“What kids and parents alike are bound to find useful is that there is no setup whatsoever, and no need to connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth; turning on the toy is all there is to it,” reckons Outfit7′s boss Samo Login.

The AA-battery-powered toys will work with a number of Talking Friends apps, including Talking Ginger, Talking Tom Cat 2, Talking Santa and a dedicated Talking Friends Superstar app that’s yet to launch on the App Store.

How much will the Superstar toys cost? Brace yourselves, parents: they’ll be £35 each. They’re on sale from the Talking Friends Superstars website, and will be shipping from 10 December.

We’re hoping to get our hands on one to see how they work, so stay tuned.

Oh, and while we’re here: remember our article last month about the imminent release of a new Talking Friends app – Talking Angela? Well, it’s still imminent: Outfit7 tell us it should be out in the next few weeks.
