It's doing more in the apps world too, with Learn to Write with Mr. Pencil its latest release. 06.10.13Matter by Kids Discover app gets chemical on iPadWe've been keeping tabs on the Kids Discover series of educational iPad apps for a while now, including apps based on Antarctica and Galaxies, Cells and Extreme Weather, and Ancient Greece. Now there's a new entry in the series, and it's decidedly science-focused. Matter by Kids Discover sets its sights on "matter’s many mixed-up forms", aiming to help children "learn about the difference between chemical and physical changes, and examine matter's four possible states: solid, liquid, gas and plasma". 06.07.13Mystery Math Town app gets reduced to iPhone sizeWe've been playing educational iPad game Mystery Math Town with our six year-old for a couple of weeks, and really enjoying it. Now it's available for iPhone too. On both devices, it's a maths-based game aimed at 6-12 year-olds, where they help a "friendly and curious little ghost" explore a mysterious town, collecting fireflies as they go. The town is split into different houses, each with a certain number of fireflies to find. It's a new iPad app that wants to help children learn to express those emotions. Based on a Dutch children's book called Vrolijk, this focuses on 20 emotions: curious, nervous, brave, shy, amazed and so on. Each is represented by a colourful fish.
