03.20.13The Very Hungry Caterpillar gets a new Stickerbook appWe grew up with Eric Carle's Very Hungry Caterpillar, and our children are just as entranced by the little fella's appetite. Now there's a new app for him and his creepy-crawly mates. The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Friends Stickerbook was released this morning by Night & Day Studios for iPhone and iPad. It draws on Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar book, but also The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Busy Spider and The Very Clumsy Click Beetle, with 57 digital stickers for kids to arrange on five illustrated backgrounds. 01.24.13Cat Doorman’s Little Red Wagon rolls onto iPadWe're very excited about the potential for musical children's apps bringing stories and songs together. Cat Doorman's Little Red Wagon is the latest that shows why. Released by Night & Day Studios, it's actually based on a 14-song album for kids called the Cat Doorman Songbook, released by US artist Julianna Bright. The app takes one of its songs, Little Red Wagon, and creates a beautiful illustrated story around it. The visuals are all hand-painted, and genuinely charming. 11.30.12Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes get Stickers with Sounds appsIt feels like only a few days since we were writing about Night & Day Studios' nifty Batman and Superman Stickers with Sounds apps. Mainly because, well, it IS only a few days. Now there are two more which we think will get parents and children even more excited: Tom and Jerry: Stickers with Sounds and The Looney Tunes Show: Stickers with Sounds. 10.18.12Richard Scarry’s Busytown gets Peekaboo People appSeveral generations of kids have enjoyed Richard Scarry's series of Busytown books, but now they've found their way into an app: Peekaboo People starring Richard Scarry's Busytown. Released by Night & Day Studios, it's part of their Peekaboo series of apps (see also: Peekaboo Trick or Treat, Peekaboo Fridge). The idea having always been characters popping out, peekaboo-style. In this case it's 13 Busytown characters demonstrating different jobs. "Catch a Carpenter hammering, a Doctor listening to Huckle’s heartbeat, and a Dancer’s arabesque," explains its App Store listing. If they've got a liking for Batman, Superman and other DC Comics characters, they may go gaga for iPad app DC Super Friends: Haunted Heroes. Released on the App Store by ScrollMotion and Night & Day Studios, it's a Halloween-themed story featuring the child-friendly versions of some of DC's most iconic superheroes. Their job: investigate a haunted house that may or may not be full of real ghosts. Now developer Night & Day Studios is taking its Peekaboo franchise further with two new apps. Peekaboo Fridge is a standalone app based on fruit, vegetables and other foods.
